Modern Day Hero by Kobra and the Lotus Lyrics

My mother always told me when I'd look up to the sky
I would see the ancient heroes written in the stars at night
Oh the older I did grow and deeper meanings I did find

These heroes walked beside me, everyday a sacrifice

To give in a time of desperation
To fight for the future of mankind

Oh no it's not easy
But I'll try to see beyond myself
Oh why is it such a challenge?
Oh I'll try, yes I'll try to do this world right
Cause I wanna be a modern day hero

Oh I have always wondered how somebody got so brave
How they'd suffer for another, they would do whatever it takes
Oh they've seen their share of hell
and their life's the price they pay
They'd do it all over again for their reasons never change

To give when you're stronger than another
To fight when you realize you can

Oh no it's not easy
But I'll try to see beyond myself
Oh why is it such a challenge?
Oh I'll try, yes I'll try to do this world right
Cause I wanna, I wanna be
A modern day hero

Oh no it's not easy
But I'll try to see beyond myself
Oh why is it such a challenge?
Oh I'll try, yes I'll try to do this world right
I wanna be a modern day hero
Oh a modern day hero
Oh a modern day hero!

Pacific Northwest Family Circle
condemns the killing of Cashus Dean
Case on July 25, 2018 by police
officers in Seaside, Oregon. In the
United States, according to the basic
tenets of our justice system, no one
can be found guilty of a crime or be
punished for it until they’ve been tried
in court.

So what if Mr. Case was a felon who
wasn’t allowed to have guns? Is this
an offense that should be punishable
by death?

While deaths by police aren’t officially
tracked in Oregon, newspaper articles
leave a trail that researchers can
follow. Since 1992, at least 336
Oregonians have been killed by police.
In every single case, these deaths
have been found justified by district
attorneys and grand juries across the
state.

As we’ve seen in just a few recent
cases around the country, District
Attorneys have the power to
prosecute the police. We call for an
independent investigation into the
death of Cashus Dean Case. As long
as police know that their actions will
be found justified, they aren’t likely to
try non-lethal alternatives.
